ACS Cheese Camp 2015

Last week Austin and Alessandra traveled to Providence, RI, to attend the 2015 American Cheese Society Competition and Cheese Camp. We didn’t enter the competition this year, since the entries were due before we had our recipes nailed down, but we were happily able to take part in the Meet the Cheesemaker event, where we succeeded in introducing our cheese to lots of folks!

Everyone was supportive and complimentary of our cheese — it’s always nice to know we’re not the only ones who love Boxcarr Handmade Cheese and inspiring to feel connected to the hard-working but fun-loving community of American cheesemakers.

And cheese people definitely know how to throw a party! It makes sense, really — people who know how to enjoy good food and cheese are the kind who know how to have a great time. Plus, cheese makes any gathering more convivial, and there was A LOT of cheese at this particular gathering. So much so, in fact, that Austin and Alessandra came home bearing gifts of cheese, so we’re all reaping the benefits.

The travelers are home now and we are all back to the daily routine of making cheese, fulfilling orders, and running deliveries, but we’ve still got a bit of a ‘buzz’ from the excitement of last week. Here are some photos from the event. We can’t wait for next year, especially since by then we’ll be ready to submit our cheeses to the judges!
